Ayurveda the Science of Life
The Seed is the beginning. Each of us is born as a seed- this determines our constitution. The constitution that we are born with is our Prakruti. This is our baseline. Knowing what kind of seed we are helps us to know how to tend to our health in body, mind and heart. If you don’t know your Prakruti it is like trying to grow a plant without knowing what kind of seed it is. How successful will you be in supporting that plant grow to its fullest potential? You will not know what kind of soil, water or sun it needs. This is the first step on our journey of discovery, finding out your Prakruti. During your initial visit we will determine your Prakruti, as well as your Vikruti, your Vikruti is your imbalance. Together we treat your imbalance to bring the body back into its natural rhythm.
Ayurveda is an ancient natural healing system originating in India that has been practiced for thousands of years. This healing path believes that each person has a unique path toward wellness and treats each person as an unique individual. The goal of an Ayurvedic program is to create an optimal environment for healing to take place. This is accomplished through adjustments to lifestyle, diet, sense therapy, sound and other natural modalities.
I’ll integrate your natal chart to explore Medical Vedic astrology, also known as “Ayur-Jyotish,” is a branch of Vedic astrology that focuses on providing insights into potential health vulnerabilities, timing of these events, and suggestions for preventative measures. Ayur-Jyotish uses positions of celestial bodies at the time of a person’s birth to assess their physical and mental health, as well as planetary transits to predict how these transits may impact health.
Key components of Ayur-Jyotish include:
Planetary influences: positions and movements of planets, including the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn, along with lunar nodes (Rahu and Ketu). Each planet is associated with specific body parts and physiological functions, and its placement in different houses of the birth chart can indicate potential health issues.
Zodiac signs and houses: The twelve zodiac signs and twelve astrological houses represent different aspects of life, including health. The position of planets within these signs and houses is interpreted to determine a person’s constitutional strengths and weaknesses, as well as their susceptibility to particular health conditions.
Doshas: Similar to Ayurvedic medicine, Ayur-Jytosh (medical Vedic astrology) recognizes three fundamental doshas or body/mind constitutions – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – which govern various physiological and psychological functions in the body. Imbalances in these doshas are believed to contribute to illness, and as a Jyotishi, I assess your individual doshic constitution based on your natal birth chart.
Remedial measures: Ayur-Jyotish prescribes remedial measures to alleviate health issues and restore balance based on astrological analyses. These remedies may include wearing specific gemstones, pujas (participating in a vedic ritual performed by a Vedic priest), reciting mantras, observing fasting on specific lunar phases or days, practicing yoga, or incorporating Ayurvedic herbs and therapies into daily life.
It’s important to note that while medical Vedic astrology is not a substitute for conventional medical diagnosis and treatment. Ayur-Jyotish is used as a complementary approach to holistic healthcare, integrating astrology with other healing modalities such as Ayurveda, yoga, and modern medicine. As with any form of alternative therapy, you should consult qualified practitioners and healthcare professionals for personalized advice and treatment.
